| 'Free
Data' - There are a number of programs widely available on the internet,
that offer to download 'free' data from Yahoo. I have no link to
any of them, one I looked at seemed quite fair - $29.99 for a downloader
that could save the downloaded data to Metastock DAT format ...
it's worth a look for those who want such a program.
PLEASE
note this is just a program discovered whilst scanning the web -
Pfscan does not endorse this product in any way, the link is being
provided simply in answer to repeated requests for 'free data' suppliers

The
following CSV data service is provided as a 'freebie' by Dukascopy,
and I would suggest that whilst it is fine for checking a few shares
or commodities out etc it is no substitute for a data service like
TC2000, Fast Track, Reuters etc when you want to keep data nicely
organised by sector, or stock group, etc.
Users
experiencing problems loading data should email for help, but please
read the manual first!
To
convert the downloaded data for Pfscan use, open the downloaded
file with Wordpad (it's a Windows accessory) and use the Menu bar
Edit dropdown to select the 'Replace' command ... replace all occurrences
of 23:59:59; with a , (comma) character. Now use the replace to
swap all semi colon characters to commas(; to ,). Save the file,
load it using the 'Set my own data fomat' option - choose to use
File=Ticker, date format D/M/Y, and set the column selectors to
be date in column 1, Volume for col 2, Open for col 3, Close for
col 4, low for col 5, high in col 6.
You
should now be able to load and chart the datafile. |
